FETTO AX7 is the next chapter in the high-voltage, valve-driven FETTO story – not a stranger, not a reset, but the same wild family blood now standing on its own as AX7.
The FETTO pedals have been part of the Himmelstrutz world for a long time, always with the same basic mission: to push the amp without taking over the guitar, the player or the amplifier.
FETTO AX7 takes that familiar idea into a true high-voltage 12AX7/ECC83 valve format. It is still a pedal, still made to live in front of the amplifier, but with a more open, immediate and voltage-driven preamp behaviour.
The voice is bright, fast and punchy, with clear attack and a strong upper-mid push. FETTO AX7 feels especially at home in the British landscape – where chime, bite, growl and amplifier response are part of the language.
Kicks in the valve drive for body, gain and harmonic push before the amp.
Adds more level, more punch and a harder hit into the amplifier input.
A three-position switch selects the valve behaviour: 400V for punch and headroom, 200V for earlier overdrive, or 200V with some top end cut away.
Still your guitar, still your amp – just pushed harder, brighter and more alive. Any FETTO keeps the player in charge and lets the amplifier do the talking.
FETTO AX7 is delivered with an ECC83 valve, because that is where it started – in Great Britain. Why this babe was later baptised FETTO AX7 is another question.
A 12AX7 valve will also work, and for less gain with more brilliance, an ECC81/12AT7 can also be used.
Want a more raw AX7 flavour? Swap the valve for DIME-X – high-voltage transistors with a little more gain and a wild hint of pentode character.
